Historian: National Black Marathoners Association (NBMA)Bio: Gary Corbitt retired in 2011 as Research Director, WJXT-TV/ Post-Newsweek Stations, Inc. after a 38-year media research career. He currently is Archivist for the soon to be started Theodore Corbitt Institute for Running History Research and is Historian for the National Black Marathoners Association (NBMA). In 2019 he was inducted into the National Black Distance Running Hall of Fame for his work in preserving long distance running history.
Gary Corbitt’s broadcast research career started in New York City at the ABC Television Network where he was a Senior Research Analyst. Gary represented the Washington Post television station group Post-Newsweek Stations as a Board Member of the Media Rating Council (MRC), the Broadcast Education Association (BEA), the Advertising Research Foundation (ARF), and the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Committee on Local Television Audience Measurement (COLTAM). Gary’s proudest media research accomplishment is his years of providing research internship opportunities and mentoring college students. He taught at Telecommunications Research at the University of Florida for two semesters.
Gary is a 1973 graduate of Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. He and his wife Debra are both native New Yorkers.

Join Us November 17 for a Major JTC Announcement
Please join us on Nov. 16, as JTC Running announces an $85,000 donation to the Jacksonville chapter of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA Jax) for the construction of a 3.1-mile (5K) running trail at Aterro Park.
Once a landfill that operated from 1972-1986, the JTC Running Trail is part of 100 acres that will be converted into biking and running trails with elevations rising to 65 feet.
