GWJax is designing and constructing the McCoys Creek branches which form the western-most portion of the creek along the Emerald Trail. We recently completed a 30% design of the branches recreation plan, including Hollybrook Park pictured above. The branches creek restoration design will be completed by May.
Design of the Emerald Trail’s first segment, the 1.3-mile Model Project, is underway and is expected to be complete this summer. Construction of the Model Project, connecting Brooklyn to LaVilla and the S-line Rail Link, is expected to begin this fall with an anticipated completion date of fall 2021!
Fundraising Campaign Update:
Last May Groundwork kicked off its first fundraising campaign to raise $1.45 million for the design of the Model Project and the McCoys Creek branches. To date, GWJax is more than two-thirds of the way to achieving this goal with $568,500 left to raise by April 2020.
