The Social Media Committee will meeting next Tuesday evening at The Loop Pizza Grill on Southside Boulevard, at the northeast corner of the Baymeadows Road intersection.

Mac will give us an update on our new web-site. I’d particularly like to know what benefits it will offer over & above what our current web-site offers, other than membership availability and replacing Constant Contact e-mails.

Bob Fernee: I’ve had a special request from Mac that you please be in attendance if at all possible.

I’d like to ask each of you to give some thought to the following ‘mission statement’ that appears on our web-site, Facebook, and Twitter pages, and see if it says exactly what we’d like it to say and communicates our reason for existence. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with it, I’d just like for us to review it and ensure it says what we’d like to say to visitors to our social media sites.

“Promoting running as a form of athletic competition • Promoting health & physical fitness through running.”

I know we discussed it last time and voted, but I feel we need a motion coming from our committee that we commit to use only JTC Running as our name (including a full space between JTC & Running), and drop all other forms of identification, i.e. JTCRunning, JTCR, Jacksonville Track Club. We NEED to be one group with one identification.

On that note, our website address will always be www.jtcrunning.com

Our Twitter account address will always be @JTCRunning, but identified as JTC Running.

However, until we figure out another route, our Facebook ID will remain as JTCRunning, as Facebook doesn’t allow a name change once you have over 200 Likes, and we currently have about 440, which is up 100+/- since April 1, 2012.

We don’t need to be communicating all of our thoughts & ideas through numerous e-mails. Just bring your best thoughts & ideas to next Tuesday’s meeting.
