Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: On a motion presented by Doug Alred and second by Franz Lerch, the August minutes were approved by the board. Doug Alred noted that meeting minutes have not been posted online lately. Jeff said he would look into that after the meeting.
Treasurer’s Report (Including Finance Committee Report): Amiee Cords reported the club’s financials and discussed in detail the Balance Sheet through August 31, as well as the Profit and Loss Detail Statement for August. She reported the club’s current bank balances in our accounts. Amiee noted that the club will be switching to Synovous Bank, one of our sponsors, soon. She will be filing the 990’s with the accountant tomorrow. She also mentioned that Fletcher High School has requested $750 for a track meet. (For reference: the club raised its support of track meets from $500 to $750 beginning with FY 2025.) The board agreed to go with the donation.
Old Business:
JTC Running FY2025 Budget – Amiee said that she had received no additional comments after she detailed the proposed FY2025 budget at the last meeting. As discussed last month, the budget is built running a deficit, primary due to large planned donations. Todd O’Donnell made a motion to approve the budget; Jeremy Smith seconded the motion. The budget was approved by the board. The new fiscal year began September 1.
New Business – None
Reports:
SORBA JTC Running Trail at Aterro Park – Jim Van Cleave reported that crushed concrete was purchased after the recent $50,000 donation. Work on the running trail can start up again as the temperatures become cooler.

JTC Running Summer Beach Run – Doug Alred reported that the weather was one of the best ever for the run compared to last year, which was one of the hottest. Attendance was only sixty seven percent of last year’s run, which resulted in about a $12,000 decrease in revenue. Beach Runs are becoming less popular. There was discussion about how future participation could be increased.
JTC Running Promotion Effort at the Summer Beach Run – Amy Kisz said eight new memberships were purchased at the race. A lot of people stopped by the JTC tent.
Emerald Trail 5K and 10K – September 28. Doug Alred said 400 people are registered for the race. JTC members get a discount on the race and should be encouraged to participate.
Guana Ultra and Trail Races – December 1st. Franz said registration is open. There is a $4 discount for JTC Running Members. Franz will be meeting with the Guana Executive Director next week. His only concern is having park rangers available.
The Last Gasp – Saturday December 28th.
Track Meet Series for 2025 – The track committee will meet in mid-October to plan the 2025 track meets and to discuss options for volunteers. The coaches of No Excuses have been asked to join the track committee.
